This is an animation for the characters shooting down. Most interestingly, every playable character has this animation.

Duo's shooting down animation is actually used, but is covered up by effects.

Mega Man's Hadouken Animation

It looks like it was planned that Mega Man would be able to use a form of Hadouken, though no possible projectile was found. A Hadouken move can be obtained (albeit through a relatively time-consuming method) in Mega Man X, where it is fired much like in the Street Fighter series.

Proto Man's Shield Animation

Looks like it was planned that Proto Man could use his shield as an attack, too. However, the gaps between sprites are very rough, and seems to be missing frames. Judging by the amount of similar sprites, it seems possible that sprites were being tested with the shield in slightly different positions before the move was scrapped.

(On the last frame of the first row, Proto Man appears to be both attacking with and carrying his shield. Oopsie, developers!)

Unused Music

This track appears to be an unused guitar track for the Cut Man theme. It was most likely made to test the sound system.

Version Differences

• Some voices and text from the Japanese version were removed in other versions.

• In the Japanese version, Mega Man says 'Rock Upper!' (referencing his Japanese name, Rockman) when he does his Up + Attack special uppercut. In other versions, he simply says 'Upper!'. Curiously, he says 'Rock Upper!' in the ending scene in Mega Man/Bass 2-player ending.
